Alexandre Portugal is a Civil Engineer (1986) and a MSc in Structural Engineering (1991) by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal. He has a PADE - Senior Business Management Programme (2008) from AESE, the Portuguese branch of IESE, Madrid, Spain. He recently attended an advanced program of Corporate Governance at Nova School of Business and Economics.

Key Qualifications

He is a senior member and a structural engineering specialist of the Portuguese Chamber of Engineers (Ordem dos Engenheiros).
From 1991 to 2003 he was an Invited Assistant Professor at IST.

He joined COBA in 1993 where he successively held positions of Structural Designer, Project Manager, Head of Division and Head of Department. He is a member of the Board of Directors since 2005.

As a board director he is responsible for national and international business development, he heads the transportation infrastructure sector and the construction management and site supervision activity.

He has 37 years of international experience in large infrastructure projects.

He is fluent in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish and has elementary knowledge of arabic.
