Degree in Geological Engineering, University of Coimbra (1989). MSc. in Engineering Geology, New University of Lisbon (1992). PhD in Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering of the Oporto University (2008), with thesis on waste landfill behaviour models.

Between 2005 and 2009 she was Invited Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering of the Minho University and between 2009 and 2013 Invited Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering of the Lusíada University (Vila Nova de Famalicão Campus).

Board Member of the College of Geology and Mines of the Northern Region of the Portuguese College of Engineers between 2004 and 2010 and Board Member of “APG – Associação Portuguesa de Geólogos” (Portuguese Association of Geologists) between 2007 and 2012.

Key Qualifications

Permanent employee of the COBA Group since 1989, Cristina Gomes initiated the professional activity as a design engineer with the Geotechnics Department, until 1994. Between 1994 and 2013 was Manager and Director of the Geotechnics Department of Engico - Engenheiros Consultores Lda, a company of the COBA Group. In 2013 began activity as Country Manager in Colombia, being responsible for the establishment of COBA's delegation in this country.

In 2015 she was appointed Director of the Colombia-Peru Region and in 2017 Commercial Director for Latin America. Accumulates the positions of Manager of COBA’s offices in Colombia and Peru and continues her technical activity in Geotechnics, participating in studies, design, technical assistance and supervision in the field of Hydropower Developments, Agricultural Undertakings, Roads, Conventional and High-speed Railway, Metro, Water Supply and Sanitation Networks, preparation of Geotechnical Maps, among others.
